is president of BMC. After graduating from the Broadcast Journalism program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, he worked in journalism in radio and television for 20 years. During his time in the media, Duncan worked for both the CBC and private radio, and CBC television, in capacities ranging from management of a radio newsroom to general assignment and legislature reporter, to producer and host of CBC Information Morning in Fredericton. He has literally covered, in one way or another, just about every major story to come down the pike in New Brunswick from the mid-seventies to early nineties.
He has won the Sam Ross Award for radio commentary three times, an Atlantic Journalism Award twice, the Charlie Edwards Award for spot news coverage, and a New Brunswick Writer's Federation Award for a children's story. His radio documentaries have aired on national CBC programs ranging from the former Sunday Morning to Open House. He has been a guest on the former Morningside, and many other regional and national radio and television programs. He has also written numerous magazine articles, and once had a political column syndicated to most weekly newspapers in the province.
After leaving the media, Duncan put himself on a steep learning curve, to broaden his media relations expertise to include other aspects of public relations including strategic and crisis communications. Part of this training included focus group selection and facilitation. He has since moderated focus groups and conducted surveys for clients ranging from the RCMP to the federal government (CMHC), and private industry.
Duncan is a former Atlantic Region Director of the Radio Television News Directors Association of Canada, a former director of the New Brunswick Legislature Press Gallery, and currently, a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Partners for Youth, a former member of the Board of Directors of the Fredericton branch of the John Howard Society, the former chairperson of the Publicity Committee for Storyfest (Fredericton's annual storytelling festival), a member of the Canadian Sport Parachute Association, and is called upon fairly regularly to MC various shows and fund-raisers.
